Valley Chimney Sweep of Yorkville, IL is a 34 year old chimney service business operated by the Dearborn family. It has 3 Certified Chimney Sweeps; Terry and Derek Dearborn and Paul Wick, to service over 1400 chimneys yearly. Valley Chimney also offers chimney rebuilding, relining and wood-burner installations and safety inspections.
Terry Dearborn is the longest, continually Certified Chimney Sweep in the United States. His certification number is 0018 and he sometimes jokes that it could be XVIII. He has re-certified 10 times and recently scored 100% on the new, Dryer Vent Technician test. He is also the only person to attend every convention of the NCSG. He was elected to 2 terms on the Board of Directors, served on the Technical Advisory Committee and is a proctor for the certification testing for sweeps and dryer vent technicians. He has been a featured speaker and seminar presenter at many state, regional and national chimney sweep conventions.
The mission of the Guild is to educate sweep and home owners about chimney safety. Terry Dearborn attended the first National Chimney Sweep Guild convention in Chicago, IL shortly after starting his sweeping career and fully recognized the need for continuing education. Very few homeowners appreciate the importance of the chimney to the safety and comfort of their family and healthy environment of their home.
