Avenidas Offers New Caregiver Series for Aging Adults in Mountain View, CA
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) August 14, 2013 -- An exciting new collaboration has begun between Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center, the Alzheimer’s Association, El Camino Hospital, Family Caregiver Alliance, and Stanford Geriatric Education Center. These organizations are joining together to present Family Caregiving 101, a year-long series of complimentary workshops to help family caregivers.
Join Avenidas on Thursday, August 22 at 7 p.m. for a presentation titled, “Taking Care of You” by the Director of Stanford’s Geriatric Education Center, Dolores Gallagher Thompson, PhD, ABPP. All workshops will take place at Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center, located at 270 Escuela Avenue in Mountain View. There is plenty of free parking, light refreshments will be served, and attendees will have a chance to win a door prize.
The workshops for the rest of 2013 will be:
-Thursday, September 26, 7 p.m. - How to Increase Balance & Decrease Falls
-Thursday, October 24, 7 p.m. - Stress Reduction Techniques
-Thursday, November 14, 7 p.m. Understanding Family Dynamics
Upcoming workshops in 2014 will include:
-Body mechanics and transfer skills
-Emotional health
-New therapies (e.g. music, animals, art)
-End of life/spirituality issues
-Building a personal support network
-Medical advocacy
-Dementia communication
