Worlds First Social Music Educational Site, Minor Society, Launches Crowdfund Through IndieGoGo
(PRWEB) August 16, 2013 -- Billed as the coolest and most diverse way to learn to play music, a new online platform is set to revolutionize the music community.
Minor Society is the first social music educational site to be launched in the world. The innovative new website and social platform will bring together expert piano and guitar players, with budding musicians of all abilities, enabling them to share experience, learning and even jam together in an affordable way.
Whether a seasoned musician looking to share your skills and branch out into tuition, or a rookie wanting expert advice, your way, and without the price tag, Minor Society is designed with music lovers firmly in mind.
Michael Sims, who created the site, has over 20 years experience in the Music Industry. He explains: “One of my earliest memories is of my mom putting Stevie Wonder on the record player, I was immediately hooked, and it wasn't long before she sent me to piano lessons with Miss Turner down the road. Now I picked up some keyboard skills from her, but I wanted to learn at my own pace, I wanted to play the groovin up-beat music of Stevie, not the slow tempo pace of the music she was teaching me.”
20 years down the line, and Mike is as hooked on music as ever. Driven by a desire to inspire and motivate a new generation of budding musicians, many of whom may not even have access to conventional piano or guitar teachers, Mike wanted to harness the power of the internet and social media to make affordable and engaging tuition available for all. “Times have changed” he continues, “and with the advent of the Internet I saw the need for a platform aimed directly at the musicians themselves, providing them with affordable tutorials which they actually want and which they can use in their own time”.
Mike has launched a Crowdfund through online portal IndieGoGo to help make this dream a reality. He continues: “In order to get the social platform up and running we need $30,000, and this is where members of the public and music lovers around the world can help”.
Through IndieGoGo, people can donate funds towards the set-up of the project. There is no minimum amount you can donate, and if you donate over certain milestones, you will receive added benefits once the site is up and running.
“This is a great way for music lovers everywhere to get involved and help thousands of people across the globe access top quality piano and guitar lessons,” continues Mike. “We've got some great benefits for funders once the site is up and running. For example if you donate $25 we'll send you five digital piano or guitar lessons which you can learn at home, and if you donate $250 you'll get 9 months of streaming lessons, plus early access to the site when it goes live, digital piano or guitar lessons, AND a limited edition Minor Society hoodie. So it really is a win-win situation for everyone involved.”
How does it work?
Minor Society is the first ever social platform aimed at bringing experienced piano and guitar mentors together directly with students looking to increase their skills or learn a new craft.
Musicians can access and download tutorials from their favorite teachers, take part in live jam-sessions through the Band Room, and talk to other music lovers through the moderated forum.
Piano and guitar experts can make their own tutorials and sell them through the online platform.
Mike continues: “In these challenging economic times, where employment especially for those in the music industry is sketchy, the need for a social site like Minor Society is even more important than ever. Not only can expert musicians share their skills, they can also earn money every time one of the online tutorials they post is downloaded”.
