The PFA Facebook page for Michel Vorm is a huge success with fans, say Digital Sports Group
(PRWEB UK) 18 August 2013 -- Digital Sports Group today announced that The PFA Facebook fan page of Michel Vorm has broken the 15% daily growth barrier making it the fastest growing Michel Vorm page on Facebook. The Facebook page has become a thriving hub for the Swansea keeper since its launch and now boasts a vibrant and rapidly growing community of fans. The Facebook page along with Michel Vorm player profile on football.co.uk provide the only online location of the official PFA biography, lifetime stats, news and high resolution gallery.
The Dutch international became the sixth signing of the summer when he joined from Utrecht for £1.5million in August 2011.
Signed a three-year contract at the Liberty Stadium as he looked to fill the void of fellow countryman Dorus de Vries, who left to join Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Michel is a firm part of Holland's national squad for the World Cup and European Championships, along with qualifiers and friendly matches. He was included in the Holland squad that finished runners-up in the 2010 World Cup after losing to Spain.
Previously, Vorm helped his nation win the European Under-21s Championship in 2006.
At club level, he has played against Liverpool and Celtic in the Europa League, and was a renowned penalty-saver at Utrecht - earning him the nickname “Penalty Killer."
Although not having the typical physique for a keeper, his agility and reflexes easily make up for it. And, particularly important for the Swans, he is a strong distributor and is comfortable with the ball at his feet.
After showing his quality on his debut in a 4-0 at Manchester City, Vorm saved a penalty in the first home Premier League game held outside of England as the Swans held Wigan to a 0-0 draw.
His heroics early on in the campaign, in particular, earned him deserved huge praise.
His performances were so impressive that he won three awards at the club’s end-of-season dinner – Supporters’ Player of the Year, Players’ Player and the Away Player gong.
Signed a new four-year contract in September 2012 that will keep him at the Liberty until the summer of 2016.
Head of Operations at DSG, Matthew Tait had this to say, “Michel Vorm really has no shortage of fans after his performances for Southampton this season and we can see that by the success of his PFA Facebook page.”
“All of us here at Digital Sports Group are proud we've had the opportunity to work with The PFA to give the fans a fantastic and unique fan resource for Michel Vorm.”
DSG became the official digital partner of the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) earlier this year and have since launched a number of Player Profile fan pages on social media site Facebook as well as providing official player pages on their football news site football.co.uk.
