Weatherbee Resources Expands Regulatory Consulting Team to Meet Hospice Client Demands
Hyannis, MA (PRWEB) August 19, 2013 -- The latest expert to join Weatherbee Resources is primed to help hospices respond to audits, requests for additional documentation and other compliance challenges. Increasing requests for assistance with regulatory, compliance and leadership challenges have prompted Weatherbee to hire veteran hospice leader, Carrie Cooley, RN, MSN, as its full time Consulting Coordinator.
Frequently called upon to provide expert witness testimony, help hospices navigate evolving compliance challenges and teach at national events, Weatherbee is one of the nation’s leading providers of hospice consulting services. A former hospice Chief Operating Officer, Cooley has first hand experience leading hospices through difficult situations such as audits and CEO transitions.
“The level of regulatory scrutiny hospices are facing is unprecedented,” states Joy Barry, Principal of Weatherbee Resources, Inc. “Hospices are spending precious time and resources struggling to respond to ADRs and audits instead of focusing on patient and family care. Carrie Cooley has helped dozens of programs in her previous role as a Senior Consultant and Project Specialist; this promotion increases her availability to hospices in need.”
While serving as the COO of a large hospice, Cooley developed strategic programming and partnerships resulting in an increase in the hospice’s average daily census. She has also assisted hospices through the acquisition process, supporting staff and ensuring ongoing operational efficiencies.
Weatherbee has seen an increase in requests for comprehensive baseline assessment audits and mock surveys to assess regulatory compliance and identify potential risk exposures. Cooley and the Weatherbee team help hospices mitigate identified risks and devise action plans to address problem areas. Weatherbee drafts and implements post-survey plans of correction and provides staff education directly to the hospice or through the Hospice Education Network. Inpatient program development, staffing models, interdisciplinary team retooling, physician and executive coaching, and other strategic and process improvement initiatives are also available to hospices through Weatherbee’s consulting division.
