In order to further our goal to evolve Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell into a world class entertainment property, we’re tapping the best in the business with Jeff, Mark and their team at Starlight Runner.
New York, New York (PRWEB) August 19, 2013
Starlight Runner Entertainment, a New York-based production company specializing in transmedia storytelling today announced its collaboration with videogame publisher Ubisoft for the highly-anticipated release of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell® Blacklist™, set for release on August 20, 2013. Working closely with the Ubisoft Toronto development team, Starlight Runner will help prepare the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell universe for expansion across major media platforms including videogames, books, and graphic novels to help re-energize fans and attract a new global audience.
As leading authorities on multi-platform narrative, Starlight Runner co-founders and transmedia producers Jeff Gomez and Mark Pensavalle are working directly with Ubisoft to expand the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell mythology. The process will more fully realize the iconic franchise hero Sam Fisher, while further developing core story elements and characters.
Under the supervision of Jade Raymond, managing director of Ubisoft Toronto, and the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell team, Starlight Runner’s work includes the compilation of a franchise Mythology for the property. The Mythology contains a newly innovated “brand essence,” which will inform all Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell games and products. The 200-page document also contains new concepts around the mission and persona of Sam Fisher®, as well as the unique ethos of the Fifth Freedom, which permits Fisher to do whatever it takes to preserve life, liberty and freedom around the world.
This proprietary process develops a back-story that connects the previous books and videogames with the upcoming sixth entry in the award-winning game series. Starlight Runner’s work will lay the foundation for future iterations of the franchise, allowing Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell to be more readily expansible across a variety of media by the Ubisoft transmedia team.
“We were impressed by Starlight Runner’s work on major franchise properties including Avatar, Halo and Men in Black,” said Jade Raymond, managing director of Ubisoft. “In order to further our goal to evolve Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell into a world class entertainment property, we’re tapping the best in the business with Jeff, Mark and their team at Starlight Runner.”
“Over the past decade, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell has built an avid fan base that is eager to learn more about the characters, story and world,” said Jeff Gomez, CEO of Starlight Runner Entertainment. “Ubisoft is one of the world’s strongest advocates of multiplatform storytelling and we are excited to be working with Jade Raymond and her team to attract and engage new audiences to the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell universe.”
With over 26 million games sold worldwide, the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell series is an international phenomenon featuring one of the most iconic videogame characters of all time – Sam Fisher. Introduced in 2002, Sam returns this year in Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist, the biggest game in the series showcasing a huge scope and variety of gameplay. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist features a gripping modern-day spec ops story ripped from today’s headlines. The player will experience a wide range of intense, eye-opening missions to stop The Blacklist, a countdown of terrorist attacks on U.S. interests, by any means necessary and find those responsible before the countdown reaches zero. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist will be available August 20, 2013 on Microsoft Xbox 360®, Sony Playstation® 3 and PC.
