Advanced Stages of Venous Disease

Complications such as leg and ankle ulcerations, changes in skin texture and color, and potentially dangerous blood clots can occur without treatment.

The New York Vein Treatment Center is launching a new health campaign designed to educate the public about the complications of advanced stage venous disease. If left untreated, vein disease can progress leading to serious complications that have a notable impact on an individual’s health, the New York City vein center says. The center hopes to encourage patients to seek appropriate care to minimize complications and promote better outcomes.

Dr. Lev Khitin, leading vein doctor at New York Vein Treatment Center, recommends prompt treatment of early stage vein disease. “Seemingly small problems like varicose veins can progress if left untreated,” Dr. Khitin explains. “Complications such as leg and ankle ulcerations, changes in skin texture and color, and potentially dangerous blood clots can occur without treatment.”

The New York-based vein clinic hopes the information provided in their newest campaign will encourage the public to make vein treatment a priority. The center will be taking advantage of social media to help spread the word about the dangers of advanced stage venous disease. Visitors to the center’s Facebook and Twitter pages will receive information on this important topic throughout the month of August.

Varicose Vein Treatment Options

Varicose veins and spider veins are extremely common in men and women. While spider veins are very small, reddish veins on the surface of the skin, varicose veins are much larger, bulging, tangled veins that may appear bluish in color. Men and women suffer from varicose veins, although women are much more likely to have them.

Today, patients have access to a number of effective varicose vein treatment options. Advancements in technology and medicine have led to the development of effective, minimally invasive treatments that produce optimal results with few side-effects or downtime. These treatments include sclerotherapy, radio frequency ablation, phlebectomy, and endovenous laser ablation.
