Greenberg Traurig Vice President Brad Kaufman to Serve on The Florida Bar’s Commission: Vision 2016 on the Future Practice of Law
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (PRWEB) August 16, 2013 -- Bradford D. Kaufman, vice president and treasurer of the international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, has been appointed to serve on The Florida Bar’s Commission: Vision 2016 - Comprehensive Study of the Future Practice of Law.
The Florida Bar President Eugene Pettis formed the Commission with the Program Evaluation Committee’s approval to spend the next three years looking at the current and long term challenges the legal profession is facing with the goal of preparing today’s lawyer for tomorrow’s practice. The four general areas for review are: Legal Education, Technology, Bar Admissions and the Delivery of Legal Services/Pro Bono.
“I am honored to have been selected to serve on the group addressing Legal Education, in essence looking at whether the current model used to train future lawyers can be improved to better prepare students to enter the profession,” said Kaufman. “This is a transformational period and we need to better balance the economics of the cost of a legal education with the practical needs of clients in an ever increasingly competitive marketplace. In my role, leading the Associate Development and Recruiting Programs for the firm, it is a critical issue for the success of our firm, so I am excited to collaborate with the other commission members on some solid recommendations.”
In addition to his role as vice president and treasurer of the firm, Kaufman co-chairs the National Securities Litigation practice and leads the firm’s Associate Development and Recruiting Programs. He focuses his practice on securities litigation and regulatory actions and has represented major broker/dealers, investment banks and other market participants in virtually all aspects of their business, including traditional litigation such as securities class actions and shareholder derivative claims in state and federal courts, regulatory investigations and enforcement actions, as well as arbitrations and employment disputes.
Kaufman, a shareholder in the West Palm Beach office, has been listed as a “Top Lawyer” by the South Florida Legal Guide from 2009-2013 and has been included in Super Lawyers magazine since 2006. He is rated AV® Preeminent™ 5.0 out of 5* and has been listed in Best Lawyers in America from 2008-2013, including "Lawyer of the Year," West Palm Beach Securities /Capital Markets Law in 2013. Kaufman has served on the Board of Directors of various profit and not-for-profit organizations both in the United States and Europe. He received his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law and his B.S. from Florida State University.
