Houston-based Jungian Analyst, Dr. James Hollis, has done it again and "HAUNTINGS: Dispelling the Ghosts Who Run Our Lives" (Chiron 2013), his 14th book, has just recently hit the shelves. Dr. Hollis is coming to Lafayette on August 23 & 24 and will appear at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church – Commons Room – 400 Camellia Blvd., Lafayette. He will speak on Relationships. HAUNTINGS explores the powerful effect exerted by the ghosts of the past. Hollis's wise counsel has been forged in the crucible of his own and other people’s painful ghosts. Hollis weaves a tapestry composed of threads from Archetypal Psychology, a vast clinical acumen, and his personal experience. According to Hollis, the most haunting experience anyone faces is the haunting that results when we break the relationship with our own soul.
The C. G. Jung Society of Louisiana will be presenting a weekend with Dr. James Hollis titled "Relationships: The Psychodynamics of Self and Others". On Friday, August 23th from 7:00 - 9:00 PM (registration 6:45-7:00PM) and there will be a lecture followed by a workshop on Saturday, August 24th 9:45-3:30 PM (Registration 9:30-9:45 PM). This workshop will seek to discern, through a series of questions and exercises, the sense of “self,” our perceptions about the Other, and the transactions which everyone’s history generates. What creates the patterns, yearnings, and repetitions in everyone’s life? These are the open-ended questions that will be explored as a group in this workshop.
James Hollis, Ph.D. taught the Humanities for 26 years in various colleges and universities before retraining as a Jungian analyst at the Jung Institute of Zurich, Switzerland (1977-82). He is a licensed Jungian analyst in private practice in Houston, Texas, where he served as Executive Director of the Jung Educational Center of Houston from 1997-2008. He is also a Professor of Jungian Studies for Saybrook University and Pacifica Graduate Institute.
