Denver, CO (PRWEB) August 19, 2013
Mom Corps Denver Owner Lauren Sveen has been named a finalist in the Denver Business Journal’s 2013 Outstanding Women in Business awards.
Each year, the Denver Business Journal recognizes Denver's most influential women at its annual Outstanding Women in Business awards event. Now in its 15th year, the luncheon honors several women in different industries who have achieved great success through leadership in business and community contribution. The winners of this year’s awards will be announced August 20, 2013 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in downtown Denver.
In 2012, Sveen opened the Denver franchise of Mom Corps, the WBENC-certified national talent acquisition and career development firm. Mom Corps works with Fortune 500 companies, small to medium-sized businesses, academic institutions and non-profit organizations to staff their organizations in a more efficient and cost-effective manner, while simultaneously helping high caliber female talent realize career objectives.
Before launching Mom Corps Denver, Sveen enjoyed a successful corporate marketing career, working with such blue-chip brands as Clorox, American Express, Lever Brothers, MCI, Penske and Ford Motor. She also served as head of marketing and business development for public relations giant Hill & Knowlton in New York City. Sveen discovered her entrepreneurial talents when she founded the first online niche retailer of children’s sporting goods.
Sveen is currently chairwoman of the Denver Women in Business initiative and a founding member of both the Duke Women’s Colorado Forum and the Wharton Women in Business. She is also in her fifth year as President of the Board of the Wharton Alumni Club in Colorado.
Sveen graduated magna cum laude from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in public policy, and earned her MBA in marketing with distinction from the Wharton School of Business.
