SAE International to Bring Back Popular Vehicle Noise Control Academy this Fall
WARRENDALE, Pa. (PRWEB) August 19, 2013 -- Due to the growing popularity of its noise and vibration seminars, SAE International is bringing back the Vehicle Noise Control Engineering Academy. The Academy will be held Oct. 28-Nov. 1 at SAE International’s Troy, Mich., office.
Attendees can chose from one of two tracks:
• Powertrain Noise
• Vehicle Interior Noise
Both tracks will focus on the NVH issues that are generated by powertrain noise sources. Attendees will learn about new design strategies to minimize these noise causing issues and the relevant instrumentation and protocols needed to address them. They also will learn to understand and apply acoustical materials to optimize NVH control/minimization in the passenger or operator compartment.
All attendees will take part in sessions dealing with sound quality and sound intensity/pressure/power issues, as well as participate in an OEM facility tour. In addition, attendees will be a part of a project team with a case problem to be solved, in which the team will use the concepts that they have just learned to address the case and present to a set of instructors who will provide feedback and discussion.
Instructors for the academy include:
• Alan D. Stuart, PhD, Associate Professor Emeritus of Acoustics, Penn State University
• Michael F. Albright, Co-founder and General Manager, Signal.X Technologies, LLC
• Michal Grimmer, Staff Project Engineer, General Motors Powertrain Division
• Arthur E. Howle, NVH Senior Technical Specialist, Roush Industries, Inc.
• Pranab Saha, Principal Consultant and Co-founder, Kolano and Saha Engineers, Inc.
• Thomas Reinhart, Program Manager for NVH; Engine, Emissions and Vehicle Research Division; Southwest Research Institute
