Cellular Sales Announces North Carolina Expansion, Opens 60th Store in State
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (PRWEB) August 21, 2013 -- Cellular Sales, the nation’s largest Verizon premium wireless retailer, recently celebrated an important milestone with the opening of its 60th store in North Carolina.
The Knoxville, Tenn.-based company entered North Carolina in May 1997 with the opening of its store in Biltmore Square Mall in Asheville. That store was the first Cellular Sales location outside of Tennessee. Cellular Sales now operates stores all across the state, including in Charlotte, Asheville, Greensboro, Durham and Wilmington.
“This was the first state we entered outside of our home base, and it has been one of our most successful markets ever since,” said Don White, Cellular Sales regional director for the North Carolina region. “We’ve sold more than 300,000 cell phones in the past year in our North Carolina-based stores, so people seem to be responding to what we’re doing here.”
Ten years after opening the first store in Asheville, Cellular Sales had expanded to 17 North Carolina stores by 2007. Then the company experienced tremendous growth, more than doubling its store count over the next 18 months, from 17 to 35. With its latest store opening in Franklin, Cellular Sales now operates 60 stores in the state and employs nearly 600 people in North Carolina.
“When I think about the tremendous growth we’ve experienced over the past few years, it just makes me proud of our sales staff, management team and recruiters,” White said. “Without the great work they’ve done, we would not have been able to expand by 43 stores over the past six years.”
The 60-store milestone in North Carolina comes after several years of record growth across the nation for Cellular Sales. In 2012, the company opened 114 stores, and it now claims more than 560 locations in 28 states with more than 4,500 employees.
