MelroseMAC Hires Laura Thommen and Mike Oakes for MelroseTEC Professional Services Division
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 19, 2013 -- MelroseTEC, the professional services division of MelroseMAC, has expanded services further by hiring media and enterprise industry technology veterans Laura Thommen and Mike Oakes.
Laura Thommen comes on board as the company’s Vice President of Strategic Sales. She will lead a team to enhance the company’s exposure and expertise in the media, government and enterprise markets.
“I am excited to be a part of the growing potential at MelroseTEC,” said Thommen. “We are uniquely positioned to offer solutions that most IT vendors cannot touch, given our access to a multitude of products, and the array of in-house expert service offerings.”
Laura brings decades of experience in solution sales that incorporate big data, professional content solutions, and cloud adoption. She spent the first six years of her career at Litton Data Systems (now Northrop Grumman), then the next 27 years with technology firms such as Apple, Adobe, Avid and DataDirect Networks. In 2010, Laura was appointed VP of Sales at DataDirect Networks, and was responsible for building out Cloud, Content and Media worldwide. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Finance from the University of Southern California, and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
Mike Oakes is the company’s Director of Enterprise Technology and Services. Mike’s extensive experience in the High Performance Computing and the media and entertainment industries are an invaluable addition to the MelroseTEC team, particularly for large-scale enterprise solutions. Working closely with Laura, Mike is responsible for detailing customer specifications, file system design and customization and proactive support programs.
“This is a very exciting time to be at a company like MelroseMAC and joining their MelroseTEC team,” said Mike Oakes. “Having worked in technology for three decades, and seen the evolution of media, data and systems workflows, I understand what a great position we are in, and the huge difference we can bring on behalf of our customers.”
Mike has been immersed in technology since the 1980’s, starting his career at Gould CSD (Computer Systems Division). In 1997, Mike joined SGI where he steadily rose in rank within the Field Service Organization. More specifically, Mike focused on the design, integration and escalation support requirements for the HPC, Film and Television industries through the utilization of clustered base SAN file systems. In 2006, Mike joined DataDirect Networks, and in 2008 he was appointed Manager, Rich Media, Domestic United States. In 2010, he was appointed World Wide Technical Director, Cloud Content and Media, where he was responsible for managing the Media business's technical support, delivery and Sales Engineering functions across the organization.
"The addition of Laura Thommen and Mike Oakes to the MelroseTEC team strengthens our ability to support the most complex requirements of the largest media, corporate and government accounts in the world,” commented Martin Vann, CEO at MelroseMAC. “Laura and Mike have over 55 years of combined experience working with some of the largest organizations around, including Fox, Microsoft, Red Bull, Deluxe, CBS Sports, Televisa and many others. We are excited to have them join the incredibly talented team already assembled at MelroseMAC.”
Brian Boring, Vice President of Production Solution Sales at MelroseTEC, added, “Laura and Mike will be invaluable partners in MelroseTEC, as they bring a set of skills and experience that can only continue to help the company grow.” Boring has recently helped several large customers upgrade their production capabilities with state of art solutions including Toyota Motor North America, Wild Card Creative Advertising, Asylum Entertainment and 51 Minds Entertainment.
