HCV VOICE: Optimizing Virological Outcomes with Integrated HCV Education
Austin, TX (PRWEB) August 20, 2013 -- Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University and Vindico Medical Education are pleased to announce their upcoming continuing medical education (CME) meeting titled: “HCV VOICE: Optimizing Virological Outcomes with Integrated HCV Education.” Gastroenterologists, hepatologists, infectious disease specialists, as well as nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health care professionals involved in the diagnosis and active management of patients with HCV are invited to attend this live CME meeting.
Chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is a leading cause of cirrhosis, end-stage liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma, and death from liver disease in the United States. Effective management of HCV continues to pose a challenge for health care practitioners. The purpose of this unique HCV VOICE initiative is to provide specific, targeted educational opportunities for clinicians who are involved in the management of patients with HCV. The continuing medical education faculty aims to incorporate a case-based approach to present the most current data on the following topics:
1. Evaluating Current and Near-term Treatment Options: Selecting the Right Regimen for Your Patient Now
2. Future Therapies: Understanding Emerging IFN-free Options
Upon completion of Topic 1, participants should be better able to:
• Evaluate HCV patients on direct-acting antiviral agent (DAA) therapy for potential adverse events, drug interactions, and issues relating to drug adherence and appropriately address to optimize outcomes
• Evaluate evidence-based medicine and clinical data pertaining to when and how to select HCV treatment in order to individualize care and improve patient health and outcomes
• Integrate in to clinical practice the most recent data about the safety and efficacy of HCV treatment regimens to assist in current and near-term clinical decision-making
Upon completion of Topic 2, participants should be better able to:
• Evaluate evidence-based medicine and clinical data pertaining to when and how to select HCV treatment in order to individualize care and improve patient health and outcomes
• Integrate into clinical practice the most recent data about the safety and efficacy of HCV treatment regimens to assist in current and near-term clinical decision-making
• Evaluate the use of interferon-based versus interferon-free regimens for the treatment of HCV
