Inc. magazine today ranked Twin Cities staffing leader STAR Collaborative number 137 on its 32nd annual Inc. 500|5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy — America’s independent entrepreneurs. Companies such as Under Armour, Microsoft, Zappos, Intuit, Jamba Juice, Zipcar, Timberland, Clif Bar, Vizio, Oracle, and many other well-known names gained early exposure as members of the Inc. 500|5000.

“STAR Collaborative has always been focused on connecting people to jobs,” said President and Co-Founder Ed Lefkow, “We want to be the company that people refer their friends and associates to when they see one of our opportunities that matches their interests or needs. We want to be known as the trusted company that is ‘doing it right.’ This philosophy, along with focusing on our consultant’s and client’s best interests, has really struck a chord in the community.”

This was the first year that STAR Collaborative was eligible for consideration in the Inc. 500 list. Besides its overall ranking of 137, it was #1 in the Top 100 Human Resources Companies, #2 in the Top 100 Minnesota Companies, and #2 in the Minneapolis Metro Area. “We’re excited to receive this recognition,” STAR Collaborative Co-Founder Dan Olson said, “ It’s rewarding to see a business model focused on transparency, disruption and abundance mentality work so well, especially since our business is based on the referrals of our satisfied clients, consultants and colleagues.”

STAR Collaborative has rapidly made a mark for itself by playing a matchmaking role between job seekers and clients throughout the Twin Cities. Originally focused on project, change and IT professionals, the print edition of the Inc.500 list features Lefkow claiming, “We can now find an expert, ninja, or purple squirrel in any field.” STAR Collaborative currently provides direct hire placement and contractors for organizational change management, learning and development, HR, business analysts, project managers and developers.

The 2013 Inc. 500, unveiled in the September issue of Inc. (available on newsstands August 21 to November 15 and on, is the most competitive crop in the list’s history. To make the cut, companies had to have achieved a staggering minimum of 918.59% in sales growth. The Inc. 500’ s aggregate revenue is $14.1 billion, with a median three-year growth of 1739 percent. The companies on this year's Inc. 500 employ more than 52,100 people and generated over 44,912 jobs in the past three years.

"Not all the companies in the Inc. 500 | 5000 are in glamorous industries, but in their fields they are as famous as household name companies simply by virtue of being great at what they do. They are the hidden champions of job growth and innovation, the real muscle of the American economy,” says Inc. magazine Editor Eric Schurenberg.
