Inc. magazine has named Grok, an independent advertising agency located in New York City, number 420 on the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing private companies in the country. The firm ranks 48th nationwide among the top 100 advertising and marketing companies and 26th among the top companies in New York.
According to Eric Schurenberg, the Editor in Chief of Inc. magazine, this year’s list is more exclusive than ever in its history. He says, “The average company on the list grew a mind-boggling 2,900 percent. Those are results most businesses could only dream of in the economy of the past three years.”
Founded by three ad industry veterans – Julie Bauer, Tod Seisser and Steve Landsberg - Grok (meaning to communicate with deep empathy) is a full service, integrated advertising agency committed to developing innovative brand strategies and delivering big, contagious ideas spread through everything from traditional and digital media, to social and ambient environments. The agency’s three-year growth rate from 2010 to 2012 was 1,077 percent and continues in 2013.
“It’s a thrill to be included in the Inc. 500 list as it recognizes the best of the best in the country,” said Julie Bauer, Founding Partner and CEO of Grok. “And the fact that a small, 20-person shop in a city of industry giants can succeed at this level, is a testament to our team’s ability to think big, and service our clients.”
Grok currently has $75 million in billings with client categories that include consumer goods, global technology, health and wellness, mobile security, medical devices, residential heating and air conditioning systems, QSR, retail and philanthropy.
“One of the reasons we’ve been successful is because we’ve grown our business organically, generating more business from existing clients – and existing client recommendations,” said Tod Seisser, Founding Partner and Chief Creative Officer. “Grok’s core new business strategy has been to over-deliver for our clients on every assignment, every day,” said Steve Landsberg, Founding Partner and Chief Creative Officer. “So far so good.”
Founded in 1979 and acquired in 2005 by Mansueto Ventures, Inc. is the only major brand dedicated exclusively to owners and managers of growing private companies, with the aim to deliver real solutions for today’s innovative company builders. Total monthly audience reach for the brand has grown significantly from 2,000,000 in 2010 to over 6,000,000 today. For more information, visit http://www.inc.com/500.
