180 Medical Announces 2013 Scholarship Recipients
Oklahoma City, OK (PRWEB) August 28, 2013 -- 180 Medical is honored to offer a scholarship program to help those with spinal cord injuries, spina bifida, transverse myelitis, and/or a neurogenic bladder. Realizing the financial burdens that exist for many of these families, the company has developed the 180 Medical Scholarship Program to honor young adults who pursue goals of higher education.
180 Medical recently announced the five recipients of the $1,000 scholarship. Each recipient is attending a two-year, four-year, or graduate school program full time in the fall and is under a physician's care for a spinal cord injury, spina bifida, transverse myelitis, or neurogenic bladder.

This year’s recipients include:
• Cristian Migliarese, attending Texas Christian University
Christian was born with spina bifida. Despite his disability, Christian joined the high school wrestling team and has received The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Medal of Courage. He will be attending Texas Christian University in the fall with the hopes of becoming a sports broadcaster.
• Adam Rose, attending Kettering University
After being diagnosed with leukemia at a young age, Adam experienced a rare reaction to his chemotherapy drugs, leaving him fully paralyzed. As an active member of the Michigan Disability Network and a handcycle marathon champion, Adam strives to receive a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• Hannah Saucier, attending Davidson College
Hannah was paralyzed from the neck down at the age of 12, after diving into a friend's pool and breaking her neck. After many academic competitions, enrichment programs, and awards highlighting her skill in math, Hannah will be attending Davidson College in the fall and hopes to go on to receive her PhD in neuroscience later on.
• Zachary Vasseur, attending University of Cincinnati
Before becoming paralyzed due to a motocross accident, Zachary was a four-time state champion. After being told he would never walk again, Zachary can walk today with the help of ankle braces. Zachary plans to pursue a degree in engineering with goals to one day design motorcycles and boats.
• Julia Guzdial, attending Fontbonne University
When Julia's parents were told that she would never be able to walk upon her birth, they treated her just like any other child. Julia proved doctors wrong as she made leaps in her ability to walk. Volunteering at her school's Diversity program and with young children, Julia hopes to set the bar high for others with physical disabilities. Julia will be attending Fontbonne University to pursue a degree in business administration this fall with the goal of becoming an entrepreneur.
The scholarship runs from January 1 to June 1 and the recipients are announced in late July. Those who would like to be considered for the 2014 180 Medical Scholarship Program may apply here.
