Action cameras have just had a quantum leap in technology with the introduction of the new Garmin VIRB Elite according to the Heart Rate Watch Company.

Features

"The Garmin VIRB Elite can wirelessly transfer footage right to your Smartphone with Bluetooth Smart or your PC, plus it adds onscreen data metrics like heart rate and even real-time maps," says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company.

"This type of technology is going to have company's like GoPro on the run because Garmin is the worldwide leader in GPS technology and now you can link Garmin bike computers, GPS watches and products into the action camera," says Squire. He adds, "For skiers, wingsuit flyers, cyclists and action sports enthusiasts this is the new frontier."

Garmin has changed the rules of the game according to Squire because now an action camera must do more than just film in HD and be editable, it needs to provide more data and maps.

VIRB Elite will link directly to your Garmin fenix or Edge 510 and 810 to display data metrics on screen.

Pricing

VIRB Elite will retail for $399.99, so its price is a bit higher than GoPro and some of its competitors but it has many more advanced features so the price is justified according to Squire.

The regular Garmin VIRB will be $299.99 but it does not contain the Bluetooth Smart connectivity so it cannot link to other devices.

"For cyclists, race car drivers, downhill mountain bikers and other extreme sports enthusiasts there has never been a way to combine footage and this much data onto a screen so it allows far more detailed analysis of performance than has ever been available before," says Squire.

Availability

The regular Garmin VIRB will be available in early September with the Garmin VIRB Elite coming available in late September according to Squire.

"What I would recommend is putting an advance order in on our website now because this device is going to be extremely popular," says Squire. He adds, "It is just a reservation, so we won't charge your credit card until the product is deliverable."

"If you would like to talk to a real expert about the Garmin VIRB elite action cameras then simply call the Heart Rate Watch Company at 866-586-7129", says Squire. He adds, "I'd recommend getting an order in early as we anticipate demand for the VIRB product to be very high."
