Visit My Smokies Reveals Dolly Parton’s Biggest Secret
Pigeon Forge, Tenn. (PRWEB) August 21, 2013 -- On August 21, in an 11 a.m. live stream event, Dolly Parton announced big changes headed to her home town of Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Along with her legendary music career, Parton is best known for her iconic amusement park in the Smoky Mountains Dollywood.
“We’re planning to invest over $300 million dollars in the next 10 years to make this area (Pigeon Forge, TN) and Dollywood one of the biggest and most popular destinations in the whole country,” said Parton.
Topping the list of new additions to the Pigeon Forge amusement park is a 300-room hotel resort. Properly named after Parton’s lifelong motto, the new Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort will sit on a total of 100 acres and include amenities like an indoor and outdoor pool, a spa, a full-service farmhouse-style restaurant and a 2,200 square foot Dolly’s Suite Dreams celebrity suite.
According to Craig Ross, the new company president for Dollywood, DreamMore resort will be within walking distance to Dollywood’s Splash Country, and transportation will be provided between the hotel and each park. Promising a truly memorable experience, the new resort will be designed with families in mind, and open to the public in 2015.
The excitement doesn’t end there. The second big announcement from the Pigeon Forge amusement park is the installation of a new roller coaster. Called FireChaser Express, the new coaster boasts to be the first dual-launch family-style coaster.
Inspired by the volunteer firemen in the 1940’s that protected the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, the new coaster will consist of 14-passenger trains on a 2,425-foot track. Not just for thrill-seekers, the new roller coaster has a minimum height requirement of 39 inches, perfect for kids 4-years-old and older. FireChaser Express will open March 2014.
Fans of both Parton and the Pigeon Forge amusement park were allowed to share their comments about the new changes during the live stream event.
“My family was definitely in awe the first time I decided to take them all last summer, now it’s going to be something,” said Dollywood fan Stephanie Lundberg.
Other new changes for the park include a special new Christmas show for the park starring Parton herself as the ghost of Christmas past. Speaking of Christmas, Parton will also be starring in a Lifetime movie, she co-wrote the music for, that will air this winter. Also, there is an upcoming international country music tour in Parton’s future where she will take the stage in Europe and Australia.
