Chicago Vein Care Center Launches Campaign on Venous Insufficiency
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) August 29, 2013 -- The Chicago Vein Care Center is launching a new campaign to help educate the public about venous insufficiency. This chronic condition occurs when blood is not effectively transported from the extremities back to the heart, says the Chicago, IL-based vein center. The center hopes to provide information to help the public manage their level of risk for this condition and achieve better outcomes through treatment.
Dr. Ramon Castro, a leading vein doctor at the Chicago Vein Care Center, warns patients against ignoring the complications associated with this condition. “The beginning stages of venous insufficiency generally presents with milder symptoms, including swelling, soreness, and an increased risk for varicose veins. However, if left untreated, long term venous insufficiency can lead to serious complications, including foot and leg ulcerations and skin changes.”
The center will be running this new public health campaign with the help of social media. Interested individuals will find information on venous insufficiency through the center’s Facebook and Twitter pages. This campaign will run throughout the month of August.
Varicose Vein Treatment Options
Varicose veins and spider veins are extremely common in men and women. While spider veins are very small, reddish veins on the surface of the skin, varicose veins are much larger, bulging, tangled veins that may appear bluish in color. Men and women suffer from varicose veins, although women are much more likely to have them.
Today, patients have access to a number of effective varicose vein treatment options. Advancements in technology and medicine have led to the development of effective, minimally invasive treatments that produce optimal results with few side-effects or downtime. These treatments include sclerotherapy, radio frequency ablation, phlebectomy, and endovenous laser ablation.
