Dr. McAfee is expected to begin his new role on Sept. 3, 2013.

As CEO, Dr. McAfee will lead the physician alignment strategy and infrastructure development of the newly formed Keck Medicine of USC Medical Foundation. Through key growth initiatives, Dr. McAfee will prepare the foundation to be the home for acquired physician practices and enable the foundation to provide a more comprehensive range of health services in a broader geographic area. Dr. McAfee will also drive quality and best practice standards associated with the foundation and promote an integrated environment to streamline referrals and care coordination.

Dr. McAfee brings with him 10 years of healthcare leadership experience and a strong clinical background. Most recently, while at the UC San Diego Health System, he was Dean of Clinical Affairs, President of the UC San Diego Ambulatory Surgery Center, CEO of the UC San Diego Faculty Practice Plan and a clinical professor in the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine.
According to a press announcement released by Keck Medicine of USC, Tom Jackiewicz, Senior Vice President and CEO of USC Health, to whom Dr. McAfee will report, said, “Tom McAfee has both the clinical and health-care business management experience to excel in his new role. As an integral part the senior executive team, Dr. McAfee will work closely with leadership across the health system, including department chairs and administrators at the Keck Medical Center, USC Verdugo Hills Hospital and USC Care Medical Group, all of which are part of Keck Medicine of USC.
