Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is a designation provided by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium or otherwise known as ISC². CISSP certification is held by more than 88672 individuals around the world as of August 2013 according to ISC². The certification is recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), the U.S. National Security Agency and meets the ANSIISSO/IEC Standard 17024:2003 for accreditation.
Holders of the CISSP certification possess knowledge in the areas of risk management, mobile security, cloud computing, and application development security. In addition to training, and passing the CISSP certification exam individuals must have more than five years of experience in two specified areas of IT security covering including access control, network security, risk management, software development security, cryptography, security architecture, disaster recovery, legal compliance, environmental security and operations security.
