H3’s newest endeavor, a 3-Day Yoga Retreat, transforms the way weight loss programs are traditionally viewed. “Most people think that weight loss is just about eating less and moving more,” says H3’s Fitness Director, Danielle Dunn. “Over 38 years of experience have shown us that weight loss is influenced by the mind/body connection and yoga is a great way to realign your mental and physical focus.”
The H3 Yoga Retreat takes place over three days during which participants engage in a variety of yoga practices including Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep), Bikram Yoga (hot yoga) and Bhakti Yoga (Indian yoga practice), while also enjoying daily island excursions such as a kayaking down the May River, stand-up paddleboard yoga in the Marsh, and yoga experiences in the Hilton Head Forest Preserve and neighboring Pinckney Island.
The Yoga Retreat emphasizes taking your yoga practice outdoors. Karen Verechia, H3 Yoga Instructor and host of the retreat, says, “Everyone is surrounded by natural beauty, we just have to take the time to appreciate it. That’s what we aim to do during this retreat. Each yoga class exposes participants to luscious foliage, clear skies and vast ocean, which helps each participant center their mind and body.”
