Then the impressive Taste of Sonoma; “Sonoma Wine Country Weekend continues to bring the best of Sonoma into the spotlight,” said Honore Comfort, co-director of the Sonoma Wine Country Weekend. “Taste of Sonoma at MacMurray Ranch offers the best of Sonoma County wine and food along with an array of additional events and activities.” Hosted by Kate MacMurray daughter of the owner of the historic vineyard purchased decades ago by her father, the late actor Fred MacMurray. This is the only time members of the public are invited in to the private estate known as one of the most beautiful in all of California. Also named one of the 10 Best Wine & Food Events in the United States by Living magazine, Taste of Sonoma at MacMurray Ranch is Sonoma's can't-miss event.
The grand finale event takes place at the Sonoma Harvest Wine Auction at Chateau St. Jean. This year’s auction theme is Brazilian Sonoma Samba where the Grand Lawn will be transformed as guests enjoy Sonoma County’s finest wine and chef creations and bid on wine and lifestyle lots to raise needed dollars for Sonoma County charities.
Weekend activities also include an impressive array of intimate winemaker lunches at award-winning wineries; dine from the terrace of the Balletto Winery family home for the quintessential Sonoma Wine Country experience as chef Thomas Schmidt of John Ash personally prepares meals or at Russian River’s picturesque Benovia Winery for an enchanting afternoon of organic offerings and vibrant views. Winemakers Dinners include renowned locations like Benzinger Family Winery who are on the forefront of the green movement. They will tempt guests with their organic treasures from the earth to table. Barbecues, wine seminars and demonstrations, sommelier-led tours, food and wine pairings, the Sonoma Steel Chef Competition, as well as a few new surprises will round out the schedule and go on throughout the weekend.
