Teletrac Wins 2013 Techie Award for Best Telematics System
Garden Grove, California (PRWEB) August 23, 2013 -- Teletrac Inc.®, a 25-year veteran award-winning GPS fleet tracking and telematics software provider, won big at this year’s Techie Awards sponsored by BusinessCar Magazine by being named the Best Telematics System in 2013.
The annual awards highlight the brightest companies in the fleet and commercial vehicle technology space. According to BusinessCar, the awards focus not only on smart features that modernize the driving experience, but also “software to enable fleet managers to more efficiently source company cars.”
“The telematics category was one of the hardest-fought, but Teletrac’s quality showed through, especially impressing the judges for its ability to try and improve driver behavior through monitoring and rating employees, and then offering hints and tips,” said BusinessCar editor Paul Barker. “This is another example of exactly the sort of intelligent use of technology that the BusinessCar Techies are designed to reward.”
The BusinessCar Techies – or Fleet Technology Awards – are the only prizes in fleet that reward technological innovation. Now in their fifth year, the eleven categories are judged by an expert panel, and reward those companies best using technology to commercial fleets run their vehicles in a cleaner, less time consuming, safer and more efficient way.
Teletrac's GPS fleet software, Fleet Director®, was honored with the award due to its powerful driver monitoring capabilities, such as the ability to gauge harsh braking, speeding and stop sign violations. This insight into driver behavior has helped companies produce reports that allow fleet operators and insurance companies to make informed business decisions. In turn, these features have allowed companies to deliver a 30% reduction in their insurance premiums in addition to decreasing the risk of fleet driver accidents by 20%.
“We are excited to be on the forefront of the expansion of GPS and telematics,” said Michael Jarvinen, Vice President of Marketing, Teletrac. “With innovative work on measuring, scoring and replaying driving behavior, Teletrac believes that measurement is the key to improvement and the integration of detailed safety data with telematics provides a virtuous cycle of fuel efficiency, safer roads and better trained drivers. We are proud to see that work honored with our recognition as Best Telematics System at the 2013 Techies.”
This is the first year Teletrac has won the Techie Award for the Best Telematics System. Previously, Teletrac was honored by the magazine with the Award for Best Satellite Navigation Mobile System consecutively in 2009 and 2010.
