Garmin Named Fitness Innovation Company of the Year by HRWC
Bozeman, MT (PRWEB) August 26, 2013 -- Fitness is becoming a bigger part of global GPS manufacturer Garmin's business, thanks to some very shrewd product introductions in 2013 that put the company on top of all others according to the Heart Rate Watch Company.
INNOVATION
"Garmin has introduced the Garmin Vector power pedals with left/right power balance, the Garmin VIRB Elite HD action camera which has leap frogged others and seems poised to put older companies that aren't innovating out of business," says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company.
"In the beginning of 2013 Garmin introduced the Garmin Edge 510 and Edge 810 which uploaded data to Facebook and Garmin Connect software in real-time via iPhone 5 or 4S," says Squire. He adds, "They have been innovating and setting the tone for a future that they seem to have a very good handle on."
This means that company's like Polar, GoPro, Contour and Timex are falling behind in technological innovation according to Squire. "Right now everybody else is struggling to keep pace with Garmin's technology whether it is in GPS watches, action cameras or bike pedals," says Squire.
"Garmin will launch another new fitness product later this week and appears poised to dominate 4th quarter sales in what is universally accepted as the best time of year for retailers", says Squire. He adds, "They haven't said what this week's launch will be but we are excited to see it."
FOLLOW THE LEADER
In keeping true to their "Follow The Leader" slogan Garmin has introduced a quantity of new, innovative products over the past two years. "They are embedding Bluetooth Smart in newer products so inter-device communication is readily available," says Squire. He adds, "The new Garmin VIRB Elite action camera has embedded GPS and will allow you to display maps and even the data from your Garmin Edge 510 bike computer right on screen with the real time footage, that is a first".
"We've been a Garmin authorized dealer for 5 years and have never named a Fitness Innovation company of the year before but this year it was clearly evident that Garmin deserved the award," says Squire. He adds, "Suunto has done a good job with their new Suunto Ambit 2 but nobody else is keeping pace with Garmin's level of innovation."
