2013 US Open Tennis Championship Tickets: Ticket Down Has Lowered Prices On All Sessions of the Upcoming US Open in Flushing
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 25, 2013 -- Ticket Down has rolled back pricing for all upcoming US Open Tennis Championship dates in 2013.
Ever since the first men's single championship was held in 1881, the U.S. Open Championship has become one of the most prestigious tennis events in the world. There are currently qualifying matches being held at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., but most of the biggest stars in the sport will look at winning the title between Aug. 26 and Sept. 3. One former women's champion will not compete at the event because of bursitis in her shoulder, but there are numerous other stars that will take part in the action. Who are some of the biggest stars that will take to the hard court in hopes of winning the Grand Slam tournament?
Andy Murray:
Murray is the defending champion at the event and will look to become the first man to repeat as champion since Roger Federer won in five straight years from 2004-08. The 26-year-old is one of the best men's players in the sport and is currently ranked as the third best player in the world. Murray has a history of reaching the finals of Grand Slam events, winning Wimbledon and the U.S. Open and losing in the finals of five others.
Novak Djokovic:
The top ranked player in the world is one of the most gifted tennis players in the sport today. Compared to legends of the past, Djokovic still has a chance to go down in history as one of the best players of all time. At the age of 26, he already has six Grand Slam wins including the 2011 U.S. Open. He has also finished the past two years as the top ranked player and the world and another win at this event could help keep him there.
Rafael Nadal:
The 27-year-old has done more in the sport by this stage in his career than several of the greatest players in the history of the sport. While normally a clay expert, Nadal has the talent to win on any surface. He is currently ranked as the No. 2 player in the world and is coming into the U.S. Open with a bit of momentum, winning the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati a couple weeks back. Nadal will hope to ride that momentum to his second U.S. Open Championship and 13th overall Grand Slam tournament win.
Serena Williams:
The top ranked women's player in the game today will be hoping to win her second straight U.S. Open title and fifth overall. In her U.S. Open career, Williams has never won back-to-back titles, something she has done with all other Grand Slam events. Should she repeat as champion, it will be the 17th Grand Slam win for the future Hall of Famer.
Victoria Azarenka:
The 24-year-old native of Belarus is one of the up and comers in the women's game and has all the talent to be the one who gets the torch passed from Williams in the next few seasons. She is the No. 2 player in the world and will be looking to win her third Grand Slam championship and first not held in Australia.
