The Ross Solar Group has designed a fully integrated and rechargeable battery backup system as a key component of their upcoming rooftop solar installation for Carter, Milchman & Frank’s 25,000 square foot warehouse in Long Island City, Queens, NY. A leading supplier of industrial machinery, tools, and building supplies, CMF is expected to generate 100% of its annual electric supply from the 100 kilowatt solar installation, and the custom designed integrated battery backup system will allow them to keep their business up and running during power outages, like those experienced during Hurricane Sandy in October of 2012.
Ross Solar’s in house engineering team and resiliency experts worked closely with CMF to identify and isolate their critical loads which will be powered and continually recharged during both long term and short term interruptions in service from Con Edison. "CMF was looking for a cleaner and more reliable way to power their critical loads during outages," said Robert Kline, Ross Solar Group's Director of Commercial Sales, adding that, "In addition to being the cleanest and most reliable solution, the cost of the electric service modification, as well as the cost of the equipment itself was greatly mitigated by the incentives that are available for solar projects."
Family owned and operated, the Ross Solar Group provides custom designed turn key solar solutions to residential, commercial, and municipal customers throughout the Northeast. They received the prestigious Sunpower Intelligent Design Award in 2012 for their contribution to a 345 Kilowatt installation at North Shore Community College in Danvers, MA, and were also named Sunpower Regional Commercial Dealer of the year in 2011. They are currently wrapping up a record setting 1.56 megawatt roof top installation for Jetro Restaurant Depot in the Bronx, NY, which is expected to produce over 1,800,000 kwh’s of electricity annually.
