Empire Beauty Schools is celebrating the Grand Opening of its flagship school in Schuylkill County, PA providing students in the area a brand new, state of the art facility to learn the art of cosmetology.

The 7,700 square foot facility located along Rt. 61 across from the Fairlane Village Mall in East Norwegian Township is replacing the older school located on Centre St. in Pottsville. Current students are transferring to the new site to finish their education and new students are starting their education in the new building.

Empire Education Group, the parent company of Empire Beauty Schools, is headquartered in East Norwegian Township and owns and operates 110 beauty schools in 21 states.

“We are thrilled to be combining our corporate headquarters with our flagship school,” says Frank Schoeneman, Chairman and CEO of Empire Education Group. “This is a great opportunity for our research and development team to test new tools, products and trends in a setting where we can see exactly how they will benefit our entire student body.”

Upgraded features include LED lights, rubber and cork flooring in the student salon to ease the strain on the feet of students, as well as modified shampoo bowls that ease back strain on future stylists.

Each of the 3 classrooms are equipped with a white board for interactive learning, as well as tailored chairs and work stations to meet the needs of advancing students.

Media interested in visiting the school should contact Angela Watson, Director of Public and Media Relations at 570-573-4546 or awatson(at)empire(dot)edu.

According to the Professional Beauty Association, over the last decade the private sector lost 1.6 million jobs for an overall decline of 1.5 percent. But over that same period, the salon industry outperformed the overall economy, adding 75,000 jobs -- an increase of 18 percent -- even after the losses it sustained following the recession of 2008.
