Department of Commerce Wins Bronze Award for Their Correspondence and Grants System
Reston, VA (PRWEB) August 27, 2013 -- The Department of Commerce won a prestigious award based upon achieving critical milestones and budget goals for a critical correspondence and grants management system. The Department’s Office of the Secretary was awarded the esteemed Bronze Medal for successfully converting a legacy document and records management system, used for active correspondence management and processing grant awards, to a new Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS), employed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
This migration, led by CRGT Inc., was performed with no system downtime or loss of data - a vital requirement - as well as under budget and on schedule. The new system is mission critical in terms of NOAA’s outreach to industry, academia, and other stakeholders. The new EDRMS manages millions of dollars of grants awarded to industry, universities, and local governments. The migration of the legacy system to the new EDRMS platform involved several terabytes of stored data and provided NOAA with consistent worldwide access.
CRGT President Tom Ferrando said, “I congratulate the leadership team at Commerce for this recognition and accomplishment. CRGT is committed to the ongoing success of this program.”
The Department of Commerce’s Bronze Award was received by John Otto (Department of Commerce, Office of the Secretary), Michelle Barnes (Department of Commerce, Office of the Secretary), Kelly L. Quickle (Office of the Under Secretary of NOAA), Sheryl Peterson (Office of the Under Secretary of NOAA), and James Anderton (Office of the Under Secretary of NOAA).
The Department of Commerce Bronze Medal is the highest honorary award granted by a head of an operating unit or Secretarial Officer or equivalent. A Bronze Medal is defined as superior performance characterized by outstanding or significant contributions which have increased the efficiency and effectiveness of the operating unit. To warrant a Bronze Medal, a contribution must focus on qualitative and quantitative performance measures reflected in the Department’s Strategic Plan and be identified in one of the following areas: leadership, personal and professional excellence, scientific/engineering achievement, organizational development, customer service, administrative/technical support or heroism.
