Impact Investor and Advocate of Sustainable Agriculture Discusses the Global Demand for Organic Products
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 29, 2013 -- On August 29, Philippe van den Bossche, an impact investor and advocate of sustainable agriculture, discusses the global demand for organic products, particularly in European markets.
According to an August 19th article published by The Times of India, titled, “Organic Farmers to Get Export Boost,” organic produce from the North Karnataka region of India will soon be exported to European markets, providing a major boost to organic farmers in the region.
The European markets approached the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in order to meet the huge demand for organic produce. To capitalize on this foreign demand, producers in India are making the switch over to organic farming.
KCCI joint secretary, C N Karikatti, says that organic products are already being sold successfully on the local market. Over time, this produce should be available for export.
Karikatti tells The Times of India, “To meet the growing demand of organic products, traders from European countries have approached us. Citizens in these countries prefer organic products because it is healthy. We have assured them that in the next couple of months, we will start exporting these products.”
Philippe van den Bossche, an impact investor and advocate of sustainable agriculture discusses the demand for organic produce. “India’s export of organic produce to European markets is an example of the rapidly increasing demand for organic products globally. As Europe increases its importation of organic products from overseas, it must also intensify organic farming initiatives domestically in order to keep up with demand.”
For right now, Indian farmers are seeing this foreign demand as a great financial opportunity. Channappa Byali, a local farmer from Hebasur village, says, “Exporting crops will help us financially and will encourage others to start organic farming.”
Philippe van den Bossche is an impact entrepreneur and investor and Chairman/ Owner of Advancing Eco Agriculture (AEA), a leading organic agricultural and horticultural consulting and manufacturing company located in Middlefield, Ohio.
