OptiSense Network Wins 2013 Tech Titans Emerging Company Innovation Award from the MTBC

I want to thank the MTBC for recognizing the significant advancements OptiSense has made over the last several years, says Stephen Prince CEO. This could only happen when employees, customers, and investors come together to empower a disruptive technology.

OptiSense Network LLC™, (http://www.optisense.net) a leading global provider of optical sensor-based solutions for automating electrical distribution networks to enable the Smart Grid, announced today that OptiSense was selected as the winner of the 2013 Tech Titans “Emerging Company Innovation” award by the Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC) on August 23, 2013.

The Emerging Company Innovation award recognizes technology companies headquartered in the DFW Metroplex with 2012 operating revenues of at least $2 million but no more than $200 million. Award qualifications include proprietary ownership of a “breakthrough” technology, how the company has advanced the industry, and achievements to date.

“I want to thank the MTBC for recognizing the significant advancements OptiSense Network has made over the last several years,” says Stephen Prince, President and CEO of OptiSense. “This progress could only happen in an environment where employees, customers, and investors come together to propel a disruptive technology to empower the Smart Grid through smarter infrastructure. We are going to significantly impact a 150 year old industry with optical sensor solutions that dramatically improve system reliability, efficiency, and capacity in a quickly evolving world of carbon caps and the advent of distributed, renewable energy integration.“

With sponsors such as Ericcson, Fujitzu Network Communications, Cisco Systems, Nokia Solutions, AT&T, and Deloitte, the Tech Titans award ceremony brought together more than 1000 attendees who celebrated technology inventors, fast growth companies, venture investors, and innovative enterprise leaders. Many Tech Titan winners have gone on to strong market growth and acquisition.

The distribution system must be upgraded globally to meet the demands of electric vehicles, renewable energy, power reliability, and better outage management. OptiSense produces and delivers technologies for medium voltage distributions systems worldwide. Its highly accurate, optical-based sensor solutions provide control to improve distribution line reliability, increase efficiency and extend the life of utility capital assets by providing intelligence beyond the substation. Its 15kV, 25kV, 35kV, and 46kV medium voltage sensor solutions are in use at leading utilities in North America, Asia, EMEA and Latin America.

“A smarter grid begins with smarter lines," notes Prince. "OptiSense's medium voltage, optical current and voltage sensor solutions are critical, as they provide the most accurate intelligence that utilities need to deliver renewable energy, control voltage, restore power, and reduce line losses."

OptiSense is an emerging leader in Distribution Automation, a $133B opportunity within the global Smart Grid industry. OptiSense holds 15 optical sensor-related patents for medium voltage and current systems from a highly-skilled Engineering organization inclusive of Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Power, Process, and Test expertise housed in a 35K sf, state of the art design and manufacturing facility.

OptiSense's growth rate, disruptive technology and investment attractiveness points a global spotlight on OptiSense as a leading Smart Grid technology provider.
