2013 Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge ‘Reels’ in over $180,000 to benefit Make-A-Wish® San Diego
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) August 27, 2013 -- Presented by the Jobsite Supply Company, over 600 anglers cast their lines for a good cause during this multi-day tuna event held August 24--25th. The tournament culminated with a post-tournament banquet on Sunday, August 25 at the Portuguese Hall that included awards, lunch, raffles, live and silent auctions and a chance to win a new Mazda.
“The real catch of the day was the support for our Wish Kids,” says Tuna Challenge Committee Member Malaine Hall-Plymesser, “Even in a challenging economy, the fishing community stepped up for Make-A-Wish and the support that we got from sponsors, anglers, donors and volunteers was tremendous. After 24 years of deep-sea fundraising, the Tuna Challenge event has raised over $2.9 million toward granting wishes in San Diego!”
The Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge committee is comprised of an all-volunteer group that works tirelessly year round to make this event so successful.
