Freightquote, the largest online U.S. freight shipping provider, announced today the appointment of Tyler Ellison as CEO. Tim Barton, founder and current CEO, will take the title of executive chairman and will actively manage the strategic direction and innovation for Freightquote.

Ellison joins Freightquote in mid-November. He has more than 16 years of management experience in the transportation industry, and most recently served as executive vice president of operations at Echo Global Logistics in Chicago.

Prior to his role at Echo Global Logistics, Ellison served as group president at Greatwide Logistics and president of Con-way Multimodal. Before entering the transportation industry, Ellison was a practicing attorney. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, his Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minn., and a Masters in International Logistics from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
