Author and educator Carmine Dapice releases his second book, “Let’s Rhyme with Time” designed to improve children’s ability to tell time on a round clock. The book comes complete with work pages for children to learn independently at school and at home.
Carmine Dapice wrote the book after discovering that younger children struggled to tell time on round clocks when they were the only clocks available.
“I noticed that some children in this particular generation have not learned to tell time on a round clock. They are more comfortable and familiar with digital clocks, but I am sure they do not always have those available, and hence would not be able to tell time on the available wall clock,” says Dapice.
Let’s Rhyme with Time teaches children to tell time on a round clock, rather than digital, with friendly illustrations and catchy poems. Designed for children 4 years old and older, Dapice, who is a retired schoolteacher, has crafted a book that fits well into current curriculum and fun enough to be read as a bedtime story. Packed with pages for working independently or with a parent, Let’s Rhyme with Time will get kids telling time in no time.
Complete with illustrations done by Dapice’s granddaughter, “Let’s Rhyme with Time” fits well for kindergarten through second grade students. Dapice hopes that teachers will use his book as a tool in their classrooms for the new school year.
Dapice included work pages at the end of the book to make it helpful for teachers, but he also envisions parents will find the book useful for summertime independent work or additional tools to supplement what teachers are already doing in school.
Compared to the characters on “Sesame Street,” Dapice hopes the “Let’s Rhyme with Time” characters will become part of an animated television series for additional exposure to children to learn telling time.
