PSI's updated Locator will make it even easier for pet owners to review and hire the most educated and dependable pet sitters in the industry.

Pet Sitters International (PSI), the world’s largest educational association for professional pet sitters, has updated its online pet-sitter search feature, the Official Pet Sitter Locator™. Pet owners can access a list of local professional PSI-member pet-sitting businesses through the simplified ZIP code search for U.S. providers, or postal code and country search for international providers, at petsit.com/locate.

“PSI’s Official Pet Sitter Locator is a step above other online pet-sitter directories because it is the only one that exclusively features PSI member pet sitters—professional businesses with access the industry’s most comprehensive insurance, bonding and educational resources,” explained PSI President Patti Moran. “Our updated Locator will make it even easier for pet owners to review and hire the most educated and dependable pet sitters in the industry.”

In addition to the more user-friendly search feature, PSI’s Official Pet Sitter Locator also provides more detailed search results. Pet owners can view a service provider’s logo, photo and easy-to-identify icons that indicate whether a pet sitter is insured, bonded, trained in pet first aid or has achieved the Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS) designation.

Pet owners can access an expanded business profile that includes each pet sitter’s contact information, a list of pet types that are served and a complete list of pet-sitting services offered.

Enhancements to PSI’s Official Pet Sitter Locator include a customized, search-engine optimized URL for each pet-sitting business listed. Moran says the updated business profiles, combined with the search-engine optimization features will be a real benefit to PSI members.

“PSI gives professional pet sitters access to the best tools in the industry,” Moran added. “We invested in these updates to provide greater online exposure for our member businesses.”

PSI’s more than 7,000 member businesses service more than 740,000 households and perform more than 18.5 million pet-sitting visits annually, according to its 2011 State of the Industry Survey.

Pet owners can also access a free, downloadable Pet Sitter Interview Checklist on the PSI website.
