LED Canada Launches "Northern Lights" LED Project with Municipality of Pangnirtung, Nunavut
(PRWEB) August 29, 2013 -- LED Canada is quickly becoming Canada's largest manufacturer and national wholesaler of LED lighting. “We see Northern Canada as an excellent opportunity not only to test and prove our LED products but to demonstrate the superior quality and return on investment value our products provide. The ability to work together with the Municipality of Pangnirtung allows us to demonstrate the real results and impact LED lighting can make in a community,” said David Schincariol, President LED Canada.
The hamlet has installed "Dimmable" LED T8 replacement tubes in the council chambers, 200-watt LED high bays in the arena and municipal garage, and 2x2 LED Panels in municipal offices.
Pending the results of the pilot program, LED Canada and the Municipality of Pangnirtung hope to implement a full conversion that makes Pangnirtung a showcase for emerging technology and efficiency in the North.
Pangnirtung is on Baffin Island, Nunavut, Canada. Pangnirtung has some of the highest utility costs in Canada, and 10% of its municipal budget is spent on energy, like many communities Pangnirtung would rather direct every available funding dollar to programs like recreation and social services. "After meeting LED Canada at a Vancouver trade show, and seeking the engineering advice of the University of Alberta Engage North representatives, we selected LED Canada as the technology provider for our LED pilot initiative. Not only are we happy with the quality of the lights but the payback is spectacular; it just cannot be beat,” said Ron Mongeau, Senior Administrative Officer at the Municipality of Pangnirtung, Nunavut.
