Bellucci Premium reacts to a recent study that reports how the consumption of olive oil can help fend off neurological disorders and prevent memory loss.
According to an August 26th article published by The Local titled, “Olive oil may avert memory loss – study,” extra virgin olive oil is well known for its numerous health benefits. Recently, in Italy it has been discovered that extra virgin olive oil can also help fend off serious neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer’s.
A two-month study was conducted at the University of Florence, according to the article. The research involved studying mice that were affected by Alzheimer’s. There was a significant difference between the cognitive and behavioral functions of the mice that received treatment and the mice that did not receive treatment.
Massimo Stefani, who led the research, was quoted in the article as saying that this study shows significant evidence that olive oil could have anti-aging effects. These affects, which are common in those that live off the Mediterranean diet, “could help prevent the long-term neurological damage related to Alzheimer’s.” Currently, there is still no effective treatment for those who are affected by this disease.
Natalie Sexenian, marketing manager for Bellucci Premium, hopes that the amount of research into the benefits of olive oil continues to grow. “There is strong evidence to suggest that olive oil has many health benefits,” she says. “I hope that the research into these claims continue to be investigated.”
Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, with a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate.
