Independently Owned Sunglass Company To Debut Consumer-Friendly Lens Changing Mechanism At Interbike

Optic Nerve, an independently owned and operated provider of premium sport and lifestyle sunglasses, is pleased to announce the upcoming release of a new interchangeable lens technology, SideSwipeTM.

The SideSwipeTM technology utilizes a small apparatus that looks like a switch and allows lenses to be easily and quickly interchanged while requiring minimal lens handling. This is the main point of differentiation from the current interchangeable technologies in the marketplace.

“The SideSwipeTM function was designed with the everyday consumer in mind,” said Optic Nerve co-founder and vice president Tom Fox. “The technology is all about leveraging simplicity and intuitiveness to create a direct process that consumers feel comfortable with.”

Sunglasses featuring the patent pending mechanism, SideSwipeTM, will be released in 2014 with two different options. One will come with two lenses – polarized smoke and polarized copper – and will retail at $129. The other will have three lenses – polarized smoke, copper and clear – and will retail at $109. All lenses will have Optic Nerve’s hydrophobic coating and frames will feature adjustable temple tips.

“At events and races I talk with the consumer, and over and over again I hear about fears and apprehensions when it comes to swapping lenses on their interchangeable sunglasses,” Fox said. “While the current interchangeable technologies in the marketplace, like our IC Premium line, are extremely durable, the fact is that consumers want something that makes sense to them. The SideSwipeTM is our way of satisfying that need.”
