When it comes to fundraising, many non-profits are looking at creative ways to not only support their organization monetarily but also to provide employment opportunities for their local community. Fundraising by recycling items that people no longer need or want is a way that many have found the statement of one person's trash is another person's treasure to be more true.
Nobody’s Perfect Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization focused on providing vocationally based support and socialization for adults with developmental disabilities and special needs. Founded in January 2006, they began with a staff of one and grew to 36 in a few short years. Nobody’s Perfect believes in recognizing people’s strengths, promoting self-reliance, enhancing confidence and building community resources. They hold the State Set Aside contract for toner and inkjet recycling for the State of Arizona and work with Planet Green Recycle as a resource to process recyclables they receive from the community.
One of their employees, Todd Litchfield, was featured in an story on azcentral.com to provide an inside look at what Nobody's Perfect is working towards. Todd has been able to not only find employment from Nobody's Perfect but also give back by training new people that come into the program.
Planet Green interviewed the Chief Operations Officer, D Williamson and Executive Director, Philip Pajak in a recent spotlight featured on the Planet Green Recycle blog. When asked about why they decided to sign up for the Planet Green Recycle program, Williamson and Pajak explain, "The Planet Green Recycle Program is a perfect fit with our organization. We have a reputation in our area as being the guys who recycle the printer ink. Receiving the inkjets, sorting them, logging them and packing them for shipment is just another set of jobs that enhance the skill set training that we do."
