A local hospital that uses the Commercial Vapor Chief steam cleaner to sanitize and clean hospital rooms, wheelchairs, laundry carts, restrooms, and other common areas, has expanded the use of the Vapor Chief to its affiliated rehabilitation center. The in-patient rehab center allows patients who need extended care before returning home a place to transition back to normal. Part of the process is extensive physical therapy. Various exercise machines are used, as well as weights, bands, and walkers. These items are touched and handles by many individuals daily and they needed to be cleaned and sanitized.

Time consuming and ineffective

The process of cleaning all these items was done by spraying a cleaner on the surface and wiping with a towel. The way this was accomplished was hit and miss at best. Areas were missed. Towels became wet and contaminated, and the cleaning solution did not properly kills germs and bacteria. The vapor Chief that was being used in the affiliated hospital was brought in to perform the same type of cleaning as was done in the hospital. The process ended up being completed 30% faster and was far more effective due to the intense heat of the Vapor Chief.

Chemical use was greatly diminished and once the rehab facility was satisfied regarding the cleanliness of the equipment, they expanded the use to the dining area and common areas of the facility. The same facility also houses a health club on a paid membership basis. The Vapor chief was brought in to that part of the facility and the same processes were done on the other exercise equipment. Free weights were cleaned, dumbbells and cowbells were cleaned. Treadmills, Stairmasters, elliptical machines, punching and boxing bags were cleaned as well. But no machine sees that amount of sweat as the spinning cycle machines. These were also cleaned with steam and the process saved time and was done far more effectively compared to spraying a cleaner and wiping.

Where there is sweat, there are germs

If a person is working out in a rehabilitation center, most likely they have had a surgery that is still in the healing process. It is critical to keep the wounds free of any viruses, germs and bacteria. In trying to work out a rehabilitating patient, they may not be used to “working out”. They may sweat more and transfer that to the workout equipment. It has to be kept extremely clean and sanitized to keep a rehabilitating patient safe. Steam cleaning is the perfect way to accomplish this. The intense heat of the vapor is proven to kill most germs, and bacteria which can be very harmful to a patient who is not fully recovered yet.

It goes hand in hand with cleaning the health club part of the building as well. Many of the exercise machines are similar and people use these machines all day long and they need to be cleaned frequently. Consequently, a commercial steam cleaner is needed to be ready at all times and ready for action. The Vapor Chief has met all of the requirements and is in action all day, every day.
