VelociData’s President and CTO, Dr. Ron Indeck, Ph.D., will give a presentation entitled “Wire-speed Data Transformation: Competitive Necessity for Breaking Up Big Data Bottlenecks. Dr. Indeck, a well-known pioneer of hybrid, heterogeneous computing, has founded two technology companies dedicated to delivering world-class computing performance. Among his distinguished professional achievements, Dr. Indeck is the former President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Magnetics Society. In his presentation, Dr. Indeck will feature VelociData’s innovative solution for ingesting and transforming EBCDIC, ASCII, and unstructured data into a Big Data target at wire speed. Without adding measurable latency, inbound data will be cleansed, conformed, normalized, and secured to provide valuable pre-processed data on its way into Hadoop with results displayed in Tableau. Dr. Indeck will describe how customers are benefitting from offloading transformations from: mainframes, MPP platforms (including Netezza and Teradata), Hadoop, and ETL tools. These benefits include significantly improved price-performance over other alternatives. VelociData speeds are typically in the range of hundreds of thousands to millions of records per second, depending on the exact transformation. It is estimated the “live” demonstration at the Emerging Technology booth will achieve performance of about 10 million rows in less than 30 seconds.
