Writer/director Stephen Lloyd Jackson says that he’s delighted that his second movie instalment of the ‘sex and race’ trilogy, Sable Fable, has been selected by the Urbanworld Film Festival to have its New York premiere screening.
Jackson, whom also wrote and directed the multi-award winning ‘David Is Dying’, goes on to say, “In many ways New York is like London. It’s very cosmopolitan and vibrant. I’m sure New York movie fans will love this piece [Sable Fable] as it conjures up the zeitgeist of both cities.”
BET networks, HBO and Movie Pass sponsor the Urbanworld Film Festival, which is an initiative of the Urbanworld Foundation Inc., a nonprofit organization founded in 1997 by Stacy Spikes.
The Urbanworld Film Festival is dedicated to redefining the multicultural roles in contemporary cinema, television and online by implementing programs and initiative that support and develop the urban content creation community.
Sable Fable has already scooped two grand jury awards at this year's 17th American Black Film Festival (ABFF) in Miami last June; best director and best narrative feature, both going to Stephen Lloyd Jackson for directing and producing.
Sable Fable is a beautiful story exploring the complex psychology of love, sex and race amongst four very different couples whose lives intertwine with one another through a series of unfortunate events.
The movie was shot in London, over a period of 24 days last August. A crew of only five people were used: director, cinematographer, 1st assistant director, sound mixer and hair & make up artist.
Sable Fable will be in competition at this year’s Urbanworld Film Festival and there’ll also be a Q&A after the screening.
The nation’s largest competitive multicultural film festival, Urbanworld will take place September 18- 22, 2013 at AMC 34th Street.
Sable Fable will screen at the AMC on 34th Street, Manhattan, NY on Friday 20th September 2013, 2pm. For more details check out the following sites: http://www.urbanworld.org
