Linus Galleries: Not Just Your Ordinary Art Gallery
(PRWEB) August 30, 2013 -- Linus Galleries is not just your ordinary art gallery. The rapidly growing Los Angeles art gallery was started by Los Angeles fine art photographer Linnea Lenkus in October 2011. The Pasadena art gallery curates both online and live art exhibitions that are open to local, domestic and international artists. The plans are to expand to having a Long Beach art gallery as well.
Lenkus created the gallery with the idea of having open calls giving both experienced and new artists the opportunity to showcase their talents. When asked about how she selects the artwork for her gallery Lenkus said “I don’t consider an artist's pedigree or how many shows they have been in. I look for art that speaks to me and those works I feel need to be seen by the world.”
Paul Daniels, an emerging Los Angeles artist whose artwork was featured in July’s art exhibition, It’s Only Natural, shares that, “From the first day I stepped in the door Linnea has been great! She really emphasized my energy as an artist."
October 4th will mark the fourth and final live exhibition of the year 2013 for Linus Galleries. The art show entitled Silent Communication incorporates seven unique themes from their past online exhibitions which Linus holds year-round. The Silent Communication art exhibit reminds the viewer that a form of expression does not always have to be loud to be heard.
Lenkus and her gallery staff strive to constantly develop new and creative themes that inspire artists to keep creating. Many artists have told the gallery that they create the artwork that they submit solely based on the inspiration of the themes.
Linus continually posts new call for entries for artists on their website and numerous art sites. Accepted artworks from the online shows are showcased on the website with artist statements and feature links to the artist’s own websites. Lenkus says that when creating each online art show theme, they keep in mind what will work well together to create the live art exhibition. “It is so gratifying to hang a show and see how all of the artwork relates to each other even though they were all selected for very different themes,” says Lenkus.
Interesting and inspiring themes is not the only thing that makes Linus Galleries so unique. Gallery director Julianna Calin states that “Linus strives to be the kind of art gallery that both nurtures and celebrates the art community." As posted on the main page of their website, Linus Galleries wants the world to know that they “embrace art that is sophisticated, moving, emotional, thought-provoking, beautiful and elegant."
Lenkus has skillfully developed an art gallery that not only showcases incredible artwork, but continuously supports their artists through a constant effort to promote the gallery and its artists. “My gallery team and I are always looking for new and exciting ways to feature our artists and to spread the word of amazing art,” says Lenkus who plans to keep growing Linus Galleries and sharing the talent she discovers with the world.
With successful live exhibitions, online art shows, videos and consistently using social media to promote, Lenkus and her Linus Galleries' staff are doing just that.
