ansarada Builds Mobile Site to Raise Funds for Cerebral Palsy
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) August 29, 2013 -- The product development team at ansarada have been putting their specialist skills to work to design and build a new mobile site for ‘Steptember’, a fundraising initiative for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance. All employees worldwide will then ‘walk the talk’ as they participate in the fundraiser throughout September.
Cerebral Palsy is the most common physical disability in childhood. It refers to a group of disorders that affect a person’s ability to move due to damage to the developing brain either during pregnancy or shortly after birth. It affects people in different ways including body movement, muscle control, coordination, muscle tone, reflex, posture and balance.
September is a health and wellness initiative designed to improve fitness while raising awareness of and funds for CPA. Teams of four track their daily step count (or swim distance among other movement measurements) by wearing a pedometer, and record the results on the interactive mobile site. The target is 10,000 steps a day for each team member during the month (office workers typically take 3,000 steps per day). The team goal is to virtually climb the highest peak on each continent. It’s a fun way to get fit while raising funds for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
The team at ansarada participated last year and saw an opportunity to improve the process: to make life easier for those involved and in doing so improve CPA’s fundraising potential. Jason Taylor, Head of Design, said of the project: "We know as a company that we can bring our expertise to bear in helping CPA raise awareness through the mobile site and social media. We’re passionate and we care, and we feel not enough is being done to raise the profile of CPA and Steptember."
After running a future-focused scoping workshop with CPA, members of ansarada’s product design and development team, Jason Taylor, Bevan Blackie, Tom Egiert, Andy Lovegrove and Martin Sto Domingo worked closely with CPA’s Kate Van De Peer to bring the mobile site to life.
But it’s not just the product team who are getting involved. All ansarada staff across the globe will ‘walk the talk’ as they too participate in Steptember, counting their steps and fundraising in teams of four.
