First Annual Battle at the Bean for Boston Strong
Savin Hill, MA (PRWEB) August 29, 2013 -- This Saturday, August 31st the first annual Battle at the Bean will take place at McConnell Park in Savin Hill where the $20 suggested donation will benefit victims of the Boston Marathon via Strive for Five and the Claddagh Fund. Sponsoring partners include Adidas and Mass Premier Soccer for the soccer portion and Reebok for the boxing portion. The TNT docudrama, Boston’s Finest will be filming for Season 2 throughout the day as well.
At 3:30pm 4 soccer teams will play back to back semi-finals – these teams consist of local youth and teen soccer coaches, former soccer professionals from around the world, New England Revolution coaching staff, members of Boston’s Finest and Boston Marathon first responders. The Revolution mascot, Slyde the Fox will also be in attendance with the Street Team, their inflatable speed kick device and an Xbox to enjoy a match on FIFA 13.
At 7:30pm the boxing matches kick off featuring boxers from Boston’s Finest and 7 local gyms including: TNT Boxing, Cyr-Farrell Boxing Gym, Peter Welch's Gym, Dorchester Boxing Club, South Boston Boxing Club, Gentlemen's Gym & TMX Boxing Academy.
Satellite parking and shuttle buses will be available to and from McConnell Park from 25 Beach Street, Dorchester, MA 02122.
Strive for Five & The Claddagh Fund are partnering in their support and fundraising efforts to benefit the victims of the Boston Marathon tragedy.
