Carol D’Amico Joins USA Funds as Senior Vice President, Emerging Markets and State Relations
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) August 29, 2013 -- USA Funds® announces the appointment of Carol D’Amico as senior vice president, emerging markets and state relations.
In that role, D’Amico, 61, will help USA Funds explore emerging markets in the higher education, business and workforce development sectors and strengthen the organization’s relationships with state higher education organizations.
“Carol is a nationally recognized expert in designing and leading strategies related to higher education, workforce development and business-led involvement in education reform. She has devoted her life and career to serving students and their families in opening up educational and workplace opportunities,” said William D. “Bill” Hansen, USA Funds president and CEO.
Prior to joining USA Funds, D’Amico was regional vice president for Project Lead the Way, the nation’s leading provider of curriculum in science, technology, engineering and math.
D’Amico served in the U.S. Department of Education as assistant secretary for adult and vocational education from 2001-2003. While serving as a senior fellow in education and co-director of the Center for Workforce Development at the Hudson Institute, she co-wrote “Workforce 2020.” The book describes the demographics of the future U.S. workforce and the challenges in preparing the American workforce to prosper in the global economy.
She also previously was executive vice president and chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, where she was responsible for the development of statewide strategy and programming and workforce development to boost the state’s economy. Additionally, D’Amico has served as president and chief executive officer of Conexus Indiana, a manufacturing and logistics initiative.
D’Amico has chaired and served on several national- and state-level boards, including a multi-term appointment by President George W. Bush to the Institute for Education Sciences and appointments to the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity and the National Assessment Governing Board.
She holds a doctoral degree in educational leadership and policy studies and a master’s degree in adult education and organizational development from Indiana University.
