"Save America Gathering" and "One Church // One Voice" Urge Christians and Leaders to Prayer Prior to Any Military Action in Syria

With Pope Francis and other prominent Christian leaders condemning Western military intervention in Syria as having the potential to lead to a world war, "One Church // One Voice" is issuing a statement urging Christians, globally, as well as international leaders, to pray before taking any course of action in Syria. The organization, which is the parent organization of "Save America Gathering," is also calling for Christians to pray for the Syrian Christian victims of the civil war.
"Christians have been caught in a crossfire, in Syria. If the situation continues, the Syrian Church will suffer the same sort of destruction the Iraqi Church saw after the coalition forces intervention," said Robert Berry, spokesperson and CEO of "One Church // One Voice."
"We urge international leaders to pray, prior to considering military intervention; and, all Christians, globally, to pray for the Christian victims of the Syrian Civil War. Psalms 33:12-22 says: 'Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth—he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength, it cannot save.
But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you.'"
Berry stated that the requested prayers were in line with the objectives of the ongoing "555 Days of Prayer to Save America". "Our aim is a more prayerful nation, from the leadership to the citizens, and a return to the God-centered values which brought the Lord's blessing's to our shores, for so many, many decades of our history. We want all churches to be houses of prayer for the sake of all the nations."
The 555-day-long prayer initiative is at day 179, today. The 100-day-long prayer asking mercy and forgiveness for the sins and shortcomings of the church, which began on August 7, 2013, is on day 24, today. The prayer event's planners are asking Christians, everywhere, to share information about "555 Days of Prayer to Save America" with their brothers and sisters, and their neighboring local churches. The prayer initiative is scheduled to end on September 11, 2014, with the "Great Wave Offering."
