HackMiami presents Winter Hacker Festival 2013, a hacker gathering with cutting edge information security training and live entertainment in Miami Beach
MIAMI BEACH, FL (PRWEB) August 30, 2013 -- While discussions over digital attack methodologies and information warfare techniques are the focus of global attention, HackMiami has announced the upcoming Winter Hacker Festival, scheduled to take place December 7th-9th in Miami Beach, FL. The Winter Hacker Festival 2013 seeks to bring together the best and brightest minds within the information security industry and digital underground, during the time of year that the rest of the country is frozen over and South Florida's climate is at it's most enjoyable.
TRAINING
The Winter Hacker Festival 2013 features two days of training hosted by Sumit Siddharth on "The Art of SQL Injection." Mr. Siddharth is a world renowned digital security attack methodology instructor who has presented on the topic of database attacks at some of the most prestigious hacking conferences around the world. Attendants of this class can expect to gain a comprehensive overview of SQL injection attack methodologies, the theory behind attack different vectors, and the tools used to take advantage of the inherent flaw.
SQL injection is one of the most common and critical web application vulnerabilities that often lead to database theft and web server compromise. Some of the largest historical credit card breaches were the result of SQL injection attacks, such as the major payment processor breaches that took place in 2008. This vulnerability continues to be a critical, ongoing issue to date. "The Art of SQL Injection" will reveal the latest techniques of database exploitation and attack mitigation. HACKING TOURNAMENT AND LIVE NERDCORE CONCERT
The event with end with an all-day capture the flag (CTF) hacking tournament and nerdcore hip-hop concert. The CTF hacking tournament will be part of the Kommand && Kontroll series, developed by Rod Soto. The Kommand && Kontroll capture the flag series has been described as one of the most realistic hacking simulations ever designed. The competition includes an array of exploitable hardware/software vulnerabilities that mimic real world scenarios, ranging from basic web application attacks to simulated SCADA based critical infrastructure takeovers. This tournament been featured at hacking conferences nationwide and has been the subject of mainstream media coverage.
Prizes are awarded to the team which establishes themselves as the most skilled hacker crew, by defeating challenges which are noted on a digital scoreboard. Live music will presented by the famed nerdcore rapper and former black hat hacker known as YTcracker, along with other acts, such as DJ Percent27.
