Professional Photographers of America Launches Game-Changing Learning Platform
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 30, 2013 -- Photographic education typically costs an arm and a leg, but that’s all about to change.
That’s because Professional Photographers of America (PPA) has launched a photography business development and learning platform unlike any other.
PPAedu is a personalized, online education program that provides a full buffet of resources suited to each photographer’s needs. The offered courses span photography business and technical skills and are all accessible 24/7 to view as many times as needed. Each program delivers information clearly outlined with key takeaways to help photographers hone their craft and strengthen their business, based on their own needs and step by step.
This new feature is PPA’s newest membership benefit, meaning it’s available immediately for PPA Professional Active members. Three month subscriptions are also available to non-members.
This new learning platform offers eight categories—four business and four creative—to tailor a program that suits a photographer’s artistic and business growth.
“A common request from our members was more education,” said Scott Kurkian, PPA’s chief operating and chief financial officer. “So we came up with the idea to bring them a personalized education platform that really targets their specific needs and helps them grow their studios in particular and their craft in general. The PPAedu instructors are renowned photographers and they’re sharing tips and secrets to benefit the industry. That’s what PPAedu is for, and that’s why PPA exists.”
So how does it work?
PPAedu provides customized recommendations thanks to the newly-developed assessment tool. Through a series of photography business and technique questions, an algorithm first determines a photographer’s skill level in a variety of areas important to photographic and financial success. The questions in the assessment span photographic and business topics and are designed to deliver personalized curriculum to fit a photographer’s specific needs, skills, interests and business profile. Then, based on the photographer’s answers, PPAedu pulls from its library of online courses to build a customized plan, available 24/7 through online videos and webinars.
As the photographer works through their catered curriculum, the algorithm will adjust this tailor-made plan based on their learning progress, so after taking several courses, the photographer can reassess any specific area of interest to get a new set of recommendations. At the time of the launch, PPAedu already presents more than 170 HD videos and webinars readily accessible to all Professional Active PPA members. With more being added each month, there won’t be a shortage of content.
PPA recently offered to its members a Beta-version to test the usability and scalability of the new tool and garnered some immediate praise.
“There is no service I've ever even heard of that gives you a survey, builds a list of your weaknesses and strengths and then delivers dynamic video training content,” said Mark Treen, owner of Treen Media. “This is simple but unheard of in the photography industry. And it's free for PPA members. The survey and content has one goal in mind, making me, personally, a better professional photographer. Wow!”
PPA member Lauren Lambeth highlighted the program’s variety.
“PPAedu is an amazing resource,” she said. “I have been watching videos in a bunch of the different categories and finding them very helpful. Even if it is something that I have learned before it’s a great way to brush up on everything.”
PPAedu comes at no additional cost to PPA Professional Active members. For more information on PPAedu or how to join PPA (there is a $27.92 a month membership fee), visit http://www.ppa.com. PPA is also opening this resource to non-members with full-access to all PPAedu programming through a $150 three-month subscription (a one-time fee).
